Filename 16 characters limitation !

Hello,

Do you think there is a hope, thanks to OSJJ 2 XL, to have NO MORE this 16 characters limitation ? for MPC1000?

All my sample sound banks have more than 16 char.....

I'd rather JJ used the machine's resources for something more important that can't be done any other way

get a batch file renamer and rename your samples on your computer

I ran into this issue the other day noticing the words stopped and the same sound would play. I just quickly renamed them problem solved. For my new files I just make sure when chopping that I keep the name short, sweet and different from others. I use the 01 02 03 04 05 system to keep them in order for easier loading.

Do you know a software (or do you know how to code a batch file) that show ALL THE FILES FROM THE HARDDISK for which the 16 first characters are the same ?

It should be easy to do such a batch file, that would provide a list, example :

WARNING, the following files have the same first 16 characters :
C:\ADSQJ\abcdefghijklmnop11.wav
C:\ADSQJ\abcdefghijklmnop12.wav
C:\TEST1\abcdefghijklmnop12.wav
C:\TEST1\abcdefghijklmnopHELLO.wav

You can set it to remove the first 13/16 chars of all the files in a folder f.e., then you preview the changes and see which are too long.

There are a lot of different things you can do with it. You'll have to play around.
