Hiya

I am relatively new to the mpc1000. I am trying to do the basic operation of getting some wav files into the akai for sequencing. I have got the machine so it is not on auto load and am going to either the load/save mode going to USB and then connecting to my Laptop. then i am dragging some wav and some audio files onto the removable storage device that appears and then going to the task panel and safely removing / disconnecting.

When i go to the load mode again I can scroll through all of the samples on the memory card but for some reason i can only play and load 1 out of the whole list. I have tried this several times with different wav samples and the same thing is happening, possibly 1 or at the most 2 of the samples will be playable / readable and the rest is just silent when trying to play or saying "wrong file" when i try to load it in (pressing do it) even though it is the same size and file type. I know all the samples are good as i have tried them on the laptop and they are all between 29KB and 800KB in size.

Any ideas what is happening here - is this a known issue or am I do something stupid (quite likely)

is there a better way of just getting a couple of dozen samples onto the akai to create a program

sorry to yet again ask a sill question

later on

copying them via USB is fine, but WAV files are only supported if they are 44kHz 16bit format

they can be stereo or mono, that doesn't matter, but they have to be 44kHz 16-bit ... I'm guessing yours aren't, so you need to use some software to convert them to that format

(you could have found this by searching the forum for "wrong + file" because it's a very very very common question)
