Live Shows with Mpc1000

Ive been producing on my mpc for almost a year now. I have the upgradeable 256mb ram. I feel ready to play some shows but i run into the wall of bringing up my beats during a live set. I can only load about 12min stereo time worth of beats which in reality comes out to maybe about 30 minutes live when looping and etc. does anyone recommend any tips of loading beats during a set?

Are you trying to do midi analog or both?Can you beat match a turntable?Endless ideas of bringing in

how are you creating your beats live?

i put a live show togther recently which is 6 songs (theres a little clip of one in my sig) - The whole show is just 35.5mb on the mpc. although i do drop accapellas and scratches in off the turntables too.

prune all the samples you dont need- i usually have loads of chops that i play around with when im creating beats - but loads of them get selected out by the time the tracks is done so i only include the chops that i actually use.
I actually reimport all my samples from my daw - so i have the compression and eq added to the chops , which if your happy with the finished mix should sound better than just playing your original chops raw.

All my samples are in mono too , this saves memory but its also worth noting that a lot of venues will rig the system in mono anyway because its easier

Downsampling?
IE: Import all your song samples to your computer. Pitch / speed up. Reimport to MPC, tune them down in the program. You'd have to fxck around with the exact amount to pitch them up / tune them down and it's going to add some DIRT (possibly desirable?) but it could double or triple your capacity.

Also just consider a second MPC or other sampler if it's in the budget. I'm working with an SP 404 and MPC 1000 combo.

Also you mean 128 meg RAM or is there an upgrade I don't know about? (No sarcasm, if there's 256 I want to know)

Sounds like you're using the mpc to play back some long ass samples.
Have you made sure to trim everything to fcuk so nothing is wasted?

if you buy non-Akai branded RAM you have to buy a 256MB expansion, which gives you 128MB -- the MPC only uses half the RAM of non-Akai models (see the sticky thread on MPC1000 RAM recommendations for details)
