Where are by Drum Banks??

Hi,

I have just signed up to the forum since buying my first MPC, which is the 1000 (This is also my first bit of hardware).

I've been playing around with it for a few days, reading the manuals but I'm struggling to understand how i get out of DEMO mode and start loading up the drum kits i want. I know how to make a new sequence and record a few bars etc but this is always with the DEMO patches? I did manage by chance to get to Drum folder once where i could select loads of drum kits such as the 808 kit etc. When i did this i must of loaded up all the kits or too many because the error message, Ram full came up. Since then i haven't been able to navigate back to those drum folders. I've been going over and over the manual but there is no page which deals with loading the internal drum banks? I have tried to figure out the Auto Load method but i can never select, as it remains on ROOT??

Could i have deleted the Drum Folders by accident and if so what can i do to get this back?

I 'am just really stupid or is there some simple task I'm missing out?

Any help or pointers on this would be amazing.

I only say that as you are asking lots and obviously have not grasped some basic premiseses of the MPC workflow and parlance used. These MPC things are neat as they are samplers and sequencers, as you may well know, so it is up to you to make, steal, buy, borrow drum samples and make your own programs. Yes on start up it AUTOLOADS preset demo. Make your own preset and save this as the only file in a new autoload folder. Mine is a 1k sample so pretty much nothing is loaded when i start up. Thats cos I RTFM and searched this very forum. easy, just a bit of work and thought involved so I have pointed you in the right direction and you can figure the rest yeah!
Not enough RAM means......Not enough RAM So get the RAM upgrade
Also use cursur buttons to navigate in load screen so you can go into folders and see whats in them

Just to let you know i do have the 128 ram upgrade : ), and i also figured out the autoload function, but what i still don't understand i how to locate the internal drum folders?? I know i need to make a program but when i go to load a sample i still can't find the internal Drum banks that come with the 1000? Like i said before, i did manage this one time, and i could load up a 808 kit or a another but since then i can't seem to find them.

This is the only thing that is bugging me, i can do pretty much everything else, i just want to have some basic internal drum sounds (Kits), to play around with.

I just connected my mpc 1000 to my mac and i can see the drum banks in the folder "Drum and Percussion". So this is the folder i was talking about earlier. When i go to mode then load, i select internal, drum and percussion and then press "Do it". After this i still can't find the drum banks. All i want to do is add acoustic kit or House kit 1 etc to my sequence/program. I'am really struggling to grasp how i import these kits onto my pads?

Try this...
When you load the file from internal memory make sure its the program file (has the 9 squares not the wave picture)
Select Load, then 'Do It'.

When your in the main window change the program to the one you loaded..
For example: now it says - Pgm: Program01, use the data wheel to change it to the name of the program you loaded, so if you you load DJ-Hip_Set it should now say "Pgm: DJ-Hip_Set"

Thanks for the response, basically when i was looking for folders to load up, i wasn't pressing the window button which allowed me to view and then select lol. Now ive figured it out i have now made a beat with the samples i selected etc,when i save sequence to the memory card should i save the programs i used as ill so they load up next time?

The easiest thing to do if you have space on your flash card or hard-drive is create a new folder and save entire memory into the folder.
Thats what I do.

Read the manual 'Chapter 15: Save/Load" (page 75)
