Setup - really need help, the manual kinda sucks.

I'm going through the manual, but the connecting mpc1000 to external audio device page is so vague.


to connect to it I have a:
technics 1210 turntable
preamp
dj mixer
stereo with aux input.

I assume i'm gonna need a few more stereo 1/4" to RCA cables
but i'm just really confused what's gonna have to go through what.
I'm assuming i have to put the technics 1210 through either the preamp or preamp mixer to record samples.

but i'm new to the mpc and clueless as hell

any help would be appreciated.

The 1210 needs its signal amplifying..
Connect it to the DJ mixer and run the output 1/4" jacks of the mixer into the mpc's record in left and rights.
Your other option is to skip the mixer and run it through the preamp into the mpc.
The choice is yours.

Just a heads up... The ebook that tutor sells has walk through guides to everything on the mpc1000.
Also use the search function on here to find things often covered.. questions that can be easily solved or get asked a lot tend to get overlooked

Akai's manuals are not that bad at all. Some of the users here push the boundaries of the MPC's and use them in creative ways. That's true. But the manual is intended to show you the functions of the machine and it does that decently. So why does everyone blame the manual? Spend the $39.95 and the time to complete the EBook.

Is there a way to reduce the background fuzz noise when recording things?

You don't need anything else dude. Just need the 1210 to go through either the preamp or the mixer for its signal to be amplified.

You talking about the noise from the record playing?
Clean the record and make sure the needle is in good condition.

turntable -> mixer -> mpc record in l/r.

you need grounded rca cables for the table to mixer set up. that's where your feedback is coming from. it's electrical interference running through your audio cables. also, if your mixer has a 'rec out' then use that to connect to the mpc. i use my mixer's 'main out' for my monitors. the 'rec out' helps reduce remaining feedback.

basically i couldnt even hear my table til i got a mixer, then i couldn't sample cause the feedback was out of control. dont bother callin around cause you wont find those cables, just search for 'hosa grounded rca' and pick your size. remember, red is right and black is white. as for the other cables? you'll just have to figure it out. i have like 3 different adapters put together to make my mixer to mpc cord. it's like rca males to a female rca/male 1/4" stereo single to a female stereo 1/4" splitter. make sure all cables/adapters are stereo!!! if even one is mono it will make everything mono as in only half the sound, not a combined signal. huge tip there, wouldve saved me time and money.

the fact that my cables dont have ground wires would make sense. where do you attatch the ground wires to on the non-mixer end? i think i have a couple over from when i bought my tables.

my table has a knob next to the phono input. you just tighten it down over the prongs. its usually either that or a threaded post and a nut.
