hey all. been thinking of getting the 1000 to use as a sequencer for my asr-x and other samplers. i have no plans to use the 1000 for anything other than sequencing dig so no using the internal sampler

anyway..... track mutes. this is the most important thing to me as i am essentially going to replace my e-mu command station which has a separate set of 16 track mute buttons. i can deal with having to use a button to switch between triggering and track mutes since i have another set of pads on the asr-x.

from my research here i found that i can record track mutes into an individual pattern, whereas the command station can only record mutes into song mode which is extremely limited and impossible to edit. i also found that you can compile sequences in song mode into one long pattern and then edit and embellish the pattern into a song.

my question is, how is the editing section on the mpc for track mutes and notes/events? is it intuitive and easy? in the command station it would place all these extra mute events in the time line and editing them later was next to impossible.

also, anybody using it just as a sequencer of other gear and how is your experience with it?

I sequence all my external gear.Samplers, keyboards and vsti.It is very powerful and even more so
with JJOS2XL.Also do not rule out the sampling feature as it is not to be overlooked.Beats and more TYPO

thanks guys, this makes the decision easier! if i use it just for sequencing (with occasional sampling) aren't those features also in the akai os?

edit: i also realize that going from the command station to the mpc means going from 384 PPQN to 96PPQN. i just have to remind myself though that all of my fav hip-hop was made with mpc's and sp's and it's all good : )

Yeah, I use my mpc2500 with JJOSXL (same as using the 1000) to sequence my S950, FZ-1, analogue synths (through kenton pro 4) and drum machines.

I bang in my midi events then use Loop Edit -> View to tweak their position in realtime. This can't be done in AkaiOS.

Works good :)

You can also double the tempo for 192PPQ.
