Hi Guys,

First off, I wasnt sure if this should go in the JJOS forum or in the MPC 1000 forum since it contains a question regarding both OS's.

I just got the mpc 1000. It came with JJSOS 4.99 but I dont know if its the full version where i can save or not. There are no samples on this unit so I cant test the save function yet. If it is the free version then i will switch back to the akai os 2 until i can afford the JJS OS2 XL. So the original questions is will i have problems going back to AKai OS2 from JJOS 4.99?

thanks

BTW this is my first post and first MPC, im using Ableton but am trying some more portable fun ways to work!

No offence, but what friggin' use is a machine if you can't save anything on it?

Sure it's fine for using at home, but you wouldn't be able to use it in a live gig or take it somewhere to play with other musicians or whatever.

You can load up any JJ OS or the official Akai versions, and keep swapping back and forth whenever, there's no limitations.

As for not knowing if the JJ OS you have is the full version, just load up a sample and try to re-save it, or go to MODE and pad 5, hit RECORD > START, leave it for a second, press STOP, KEEP and save this.

Ok so it is the unregistered version of JJOS 4.99 and because i cant save i switched it back to the akai os 2. I dont know if the free JJOS is better or not because i dont have any experience with these machines yet. If you guys suggest 100% to have the free JJOS insted of the akai os 2 then ill install it tonight when i get home. BTW I found the ram upgrade on ebay for $15 total that includes shipping incase anyone is interested let me know i can point you in the right direction :) I cant wait to have everything sorted out! Thanks for the replys.

no problemo bro :D I've installed the JJ OS 3.12 some time ago on my 1000-BK and I have to say it is much more functional than the Akai soft, plus some bugs that occured in the Akai OS are fixed in that JJ so I really recommend it.
