1st let me apologize for this long winded post,
I recently bought a Kodak 512mb cf card at a pawn shop, but it was brand new, still in the package sealed.
Took it home and used it for 2months no problems, then all the sudden 3 nights ago, had this nice beat goin on, it was gettin late, so i went to save my pgms w/ samples and sequences(i do the user setup to remeber my pgms) as always and the save/load/usb screen loaded up and it just froze... I'm using akai os 2.13, and it is sometimes slow(i still only got the factory 16mb ram) so i waited a few mins and it was frozen still.
I didnt want to take out the memory card with the mpc on, so I powered down the mpc, and took the card to my computer and put it in my card reader. It read the card, so i copied my previous saved stuff to my pc. I deleted the card, formatted it on the mpc, and then put it back in the readetr and put my stuff back on the card.
I loaded some stuff off the card onto my mpc and it loaded fine. But as soon as i went to the save screen, Boom it froze the mpc again!! I shut off the mpc, and took the card back to my pc and put it in the card reader, this time, it said the cf card didnt exist!! It said please insert a disk into the drive!!
All my other cards work fine in my MPC and i tried loading and saving, deleting files, re saving(replace same samples in memory), making new files, autoload, etc... and they are all straight.
the other cards are.... 2 256mb san disk cards i bought in 2006, 1 1gb PNY card, bought in 06 as well, and the 32mb card from akai.
Has this ever happened to anyone else??
