No Sound coming from Pads! Please Help!

Hello, I recently purchased the MPC 1000 and I am using the product for the first time. Up until now everything has gone fairly smooth as I've been spending nearly all of my time learning how to use and exploring the functions. But now I am having real trouble. Today, I was attempting to sync my MPC to logic pro on my macbook via USB, and at some point (exactly when or why, I can't be sure) I noticed the pads were no longer making noise through my speakers. Now, when I hit MODE+RECORD, and play music from my computer through my MPC- everything works just fine. So I know it's not the speakers. Please, if anyone has a simple solution, or maybe has had this problem before? I've tried everything as best as know, and still no sound from the pads. Even when I go into MODE+PROGRAM to adjust the sample sounds for individual pads, I get nothing! Even when I play the sequence, I watch as the bars play through on the screen as I sit in silence!! I would really appreciate some help on this, it's driving me nuts!!! Thank you!!

P.S. I'm certain it has nothing to do with the sound banks either. Just because that seems to be a popular answer to this type of question.

Ok, did you assign the samples to the pads? Also, how are you syncing the MPC to Logic, through MIDI or the Audio Ins and Outs, or both MIDI and Audio?

Thank you for the response! I figured out the problem! I did have the samples assigned to the pads, but while I was trying to sync, I must have switched "Pad to internal sound: OFF" somehow. I read about the Pad to internal sound setting and thought it might have had something to do with my problem, but I didn't find the setting in MIDI/SYNC before. I guess I wasn't looking hard enough. So I set it ON and had sound again!
To answer your other question, I am trying to sync my MPC to logic pro and I have a USB cord that goes from "record in" on the back of the MPC straight to my laptop. When I bought the USB, I was told it would enable me to use my MPC as a midi controller for logic. But, I am also having trouble with this- it seems that I need the MIDI Ins and Outs USB for this. I haven't had any luck with my USB as far as logic goes... I can open the MPC Disk on my desktop and move files around a bit on there but I honestly don't know how to get Logic to recognize the MPC through it. I realize I'm answering your question with a question But maybe you can tell me if I'm wasting my time trying to Sync this way? Thank you again for your help.

You will not control Logic with that cord and you definitely will not get MIDI through the MPC's Record Ins.

I would recommend an audio interface with MIDI capabilities, MIDI cables and 1/4" audio cables. The interface will serve as a bridge between Logic and MPC transmitting data and audio to one another.

There are various videos and tutorials on youtube and you can get e-books from this site as well on how to find that efficient set-up.
