SSD possible in MPC 1k?

yo,

saw the CF to HD adapter. it's looking really good, but i'm wondering if there's a way to use an SSD instead of CF.

They've come down so much in price!

i apologize if this is an overpost or i didn't search the forums thoroughly!

are SSD drives the same size as regular drives? do they have a connection that can be converted to i think the IDE style pins of the drives that are used in the HDM10? if so, i imagine it'd work. test and let us know!

Probably meant SSD is used in place of an HDD. Not in place of a CF.

No matter what you throw in there, your speeds will = the slowest link in the chain.
In the SSD situation, that would be the mpc read/write speed max which I'm pretty sure is not as fast as the SSD max.

i was just wondering if anyone could confirm.

SSD has come down so much in price, i'm figuring that they work.

newegg has got 60gb for around ~$60 or so.
the adapter is gonna run ~$30 or so.

i figure with nonstop jamming and ripping on pads,
SSD has got the advantage over spinning mag disks!!

You may get a longer life cycle.

Possible 1-2mil hours mean time between failures. Longer than a hdd. You won't reap the speeds because of the mpc being way slower than the ssd max w/r.

No moving parts.

Literally no heat.

If you were to get one get the sata 3 as they've supposedly gotten more reliable than when they first came out.

Gotcha.

I'm actually thinking of doing this with my 4k.
Regular life gets in the way so I haven't moved on this just yet.

Yeah I know what mean think I've had my HDD since around 2008, I keep saying to myself I must back up more regularly but never do, I'm going to regret not doing it one day :nod:
