Volume Issues With MPC 1000

I just got my mpc a couple of days ago. All of my sequences were playing back fine since I've got it. Recently though, the playback has been very very low. All of the assigned pads playback at the correct volume but when I playback the whole sequence it plays a considerably lower volume. I'm lost...

hit mode>pad11 ,check to see if your master and eq are set properly.

And what IS 'properly' ? A little detail please... thanks.

He probably means make sure the master output level didn't get set to -6db which is like a 200% reduction in perceived volume from 0db. And on EQ check to see if frequencies are being cut and lowered which also would lower your volume.

davehate said mode/pad 11 so I guess you guys are talking the Akai OS. But on JJOS2XL that master setting goes down to -42db

well it depends. See i think you will have to set gain structure to every bit of the chain and go for say -18dBu at mix stage for mix headroom. So in my case for instance i set out put to -12 dB BUT it actually shows levels above 0dB in the next part of my gain structure. Why is this? well it would take a lot to explain all the different dBs ect but it means -12dB can = 0dB or more. I am aiming for unity gain at the end in my monitors with out processing/ live ect. this has to be done with a lot of considerations to your gain structure and what is in it and what you are trying to do. All this is what determines your output choice.
