Hello !
I´ve got a 2KXL. But i want to buy a mpc 1000 that i can use when i gonna record my guitar and bring with me when I am not home. So I`ve heard that its possible to record from the audio inputs directly over a track (that is not possible at the XL).. But how does it really work?

Can I record my drums first over som tracks in a sequence, and the choose a new track for my guitar and hear the drums playing while i play/record my guitar ?
Or do I just hear my metronome? Or will it work like that all?

From what I understand, you need to run at least JJOS1 to get the audio tracks. What this does is allow you to record a sample directly into its own track, where it doesn't need to be triggered by a pad. In a way, it works just like an audio tracks works in a DAW... there's no midi data and you can even load say an existing WAV loop you have.

It's pretty neat and in OSXL it gives you even more tracks (os1 gives you like 5) that can be dedicated to audio, assuming you have the memory left to have that many.

JJOS really makes the MPC feel like a handson DAW. I've just been using a daw as nothing more than a sound module and doing EVERYTHING else in the mpc, because the OS allows me to : :smoker:
