Use MPC as MIDI keyboard with synth

Hey,

Is it possible with the MPC1000 to record a MIDI message in a pad but not a MIDI sequence ? I would like to be able to use my MPC1000 with an expander in order to get access to the synth's controls but not by playing sequences but chords. Like recording in a pad the notes of a specific chord and by pushing on the pad the synth understands that I am playing that chord and reacts to it...

Maybe it is not possible with the Akai OS... I don't have any idea.

definitely not possible with the akai OS.

You could try putting the notes of the chord on 3 adjacent pads or whatever, then it's still easy to just hit all 3 at once.

If you won't need to tweak the synth real-time as the sequence is playing/as you're hitting the pads, then you could just sample the synth and put the chord sample on the pad.


But on JJOS, there's a pattern feature in which you can essentially assign a sequence to a pad. If this sequence just has the three midi notes, you'll play a chord. I don't know much at all about the pattern mode, so I can't give more details.
