Whatup yall...havin some difficulty tracking my 1000 into tools via midi. I have an m audio mobile pre interface, and a midi to usb connecter. Im following all the steps i see on the akai site but for some reason, i still cant get it to sync. i have the in cord plugged into the in of my mpc, i put the midi sync to 1, and i even messed with the time clock in tools.... also a little confused on the master/slave thing.. I wanna have it so as soon i press play on the mp, protools starts recording on time with it.does this mean i want the mpc as a slave? any help would be appreciated...

MIDI Out goes to MIDI In, MIDI In goes to MIDI out. If that's not a typo you said you plugged MIDI In to MIDI In.

MPC would be the MIDI master to have it's transport start/stop PT.

So do MPC MIDI out to interface's MIDI in. Then you could also plug in a cable from the interfaces MIDI out to a MIDI In on the MPC. But if you don't need PT to send MIDI to the MPC just the first cable will suffice.

The MIDI cable from the interface MIDI Out to the MPC MIDI In would be for the reverse of what you're trying, with PT as the MIDI master and it''s transport starting/stopping the MPC.

Most people just hook up two cables so they're always wired to do either/or.

yea i feel you but the converter i have is like 2 midi cords (1 in, 1 out) both running into a box ( keep in mind they are wired in there and i cant unplug them). and the other end is just the usb cord, so with that said, should i still run the OUT cord into the IN input of the mpc?

Yeah. The DAW/PT and the MPC would treat that set of MIDI I/O as if it was built into the interface. From your post I'm guessing you have no MIDI I/O on the M-Audio.

Again the out cord probably won't get used in the scenario you mentioned. One cord from the MPC MIDI Out to USB/MIDI interface's MIDI IN should do it.

If you still have any trouble please post the name of the USB interface. But if you have the cable(s) right and follow the instructions at Akai's site you should be fine.
