mpc 1000 no OS file found

i have this mpc 1000 bk, there used to be jjos 4.80? on it. i think someone tried to update it, and when nothing happened switched it off. now it starts with bootblock
version 1.03 boot on emergency mode. a compactflash card was detected, detected file fat32 volume, os file searching .... a correct os file was not found. system halt ....

i tried with different os files, the original akai one aswell as the jjos, both bring the same error message. then i tried without the ram as the helpdesk mentioned something about that, still same error.

so i was reading the forum and found something about the cf reader which might be broken, but would then the file format of the cf card still be recognized and shown as fat32 ?

in between i got me the hdm10 kit and a hd, thinkin this might fix my issue, but it doesnt.

does anyone have a tip what i could do besides sending it in repair ?

OS file with extension *.bin (check it) has to be at root of card/disk, not in folder.

Looks like something went wrong with the download. Try again and see that the extension is just .bin and not .bin.cpgz or anything else.

i tried now with the .bin file, but also here the mpc hangs on start with this message that no OS file is found.

i have also tried without ram installed.

and make sure it will download JUST as *.bin not as *.bin.fvck

i have downloaded the free jjos version from the site

it is a .bin file, the file is on the cf card, now when i put the cf card in the mpc and start it up while holding the record button, i get the same error message again, that no correct os file was found.

my question, in case my cf card reader is damaged, would the mpc then still recognize that a cf card with file volume fat32 is inserted ?

as i have the hdm hd adapter, would it be possible to load up the os from a hd without having a os on the mpc, because where i bought the adapter they mentioned something about os version 2 would be required ?

any other ideas what i could still try out or what the issue could be ?

try to download the akai os, don't worry you can always upgrade it to JJOS once you get your machine up and running.

the instructions you mentioned i cannot follow, as there is described that i have to connect the mpc with the computer and go to Load mode, then press USB (F4), well
i dont have the OS on the machine therefore i dont get this menue.

i downloaded now the akai os version mpc1kv2.bin from the link:

i putted the .bin file on my cf card via a card reader on a mac computer. then back in the mpc starting up with record button pressed, again i get the same error that no correct os file was found.

im really thinking that the cf slot could be the issue, as i had seen 2 pins bended,
i pushed them back to be straight again, but maybe its broken already.

now such a slot i find online for a 130 bucks, the question is will this fix my issue, cause when i now buy that slot and on the end i have to send the mpc to repair anyway, then i spent twice.

yeah sounds like a broken cf-reader... no guarantees that switching it would solve this issue if there's something else broken as well. But it would be the next logical step to try out imo.

any idea what the changing of a card slot costs at the akai repair ?

just build out the cf card slot and took it apart, didnt had the tools to bent the pins back, i try that tomorow somewhere, however one of the pins looks like it broke off half, so i will need the slot replacement, or is there a DIY way, like solder something together ? here a foto how the pins look, the problems are on the right and the left side.

i fixed it, today the new cf card slot arrived, new OS is installed, im happy.
