Hello!

hope this post finds you well. Thanks in advance for taking the time to look at my problem.

I use an MPC 1k with JJOS 3.16 (8GB Akai compact flash card), and have been enjoying using it for about 2 years. Suddenly the pads have stopped working in MAIN mode. If i go Mode>Load, and am looking at samples on the memory card, and hit a pad, bingo, i've got sounds.

I'm stumped, as i've been using this live for about 2 years and this problem has just started happening. i'm wondering if there's a master setting i may have bumped.

to debug, i have uninstalled JJ, and reinstalled the Akai software, which is working fine... (if it loads, the set i load is quite hefty file size) and it usually stalls about 4-5 times before loading correctly. So i'm wondering if this is a software problem or a hardware problem?! driving me crazy! Reinstalled JJ, still same probs.

please let me know if you can shed some light, it would be greatly appriciated!!!

Try re-seating your RAM. Take it out, check for any dirty contacts, put it back in.

My first guess would be a RAM issue. I would guess in LOAD it does some special streaming from CF or using a special part of RAM thing. In the main screen it could be using a different section of the RAM card, which could be badly connected/broken.

Do you have another RAM card to try? Like the stock RAM card if you did the 128mb upgrade yourself?

Also I think there might be some sort of utility RAM checking thing accessed somehow on startup, holding down certain buttons or something.
