what should i do after finishing the user's manual

i want to make some hiphop beat and be a live performer as well. But i don't know how to practice to improve myself after getting through the user's manual and quickstart manual. Should i buy the Beat Making on the MPC1000?

Yep, buy Tutor's book and see how you progress from there.

I'd say keep bashing away on those pads, keep pressing buttons and trying things out.
Think about what sort of sounds you want to make and try to work out how to achieve them your self. If you are really going to stick with your mpc, you will not be able to keep away from it (during the honeymoon period at least) just keep making beats till they start to sound right.
Reading is good but while you are reading a book you could be on the pads.
If you get stuck, a little referral to the manual could be good but then get back to the machine. When you need some guidance from the manual, try to work out which chapter deals with your particular enquiry. It will prevent you having to speed read the whole manual again.

Tutors book is very good too and will help you with the finer points and some of the slightly more advanced techniques

I'd say both suggestions sound very good from Coz and Pilchard. Also, the good thing about the tutorials is that they come with samples and project files which serve to show clear examples of what's being taught. So you can learn and play along at the same time. When you spend some time reading the descriptions of the tutorial before buying, you'll see that they were constructed very carefully in order to make the learning curve more user-friendly. Everything is explained very clearly in the tutorials, so that it's even easier to follow than just the manual. Use both and get the most out of your learning experience. I highly recommend them to people who are just getting started.

Turn on the MPC, load and/or record some sounds into it, use it.

Exactly.

Reading through the whole manual, start to finish, without having the mpc infront of you with a sample loaded or ready to be loaded wont do you much good, in my opinion. You need to have some sort of idea ready, with the mp in front of you, turned on and the manual just for reference.

YouTube tutorials are good too.

Just keep at it!
