hey guys,

hope someone can help me out.

i am trying to send digital audio to the s1100. (both of my asr10 and s3000i appear not to have the digital I/0.)

i have two cables:
one is the toslink and the other coaxial digital rca.

akai s1100 has a digital input i can connect the toslink to.
tried sending signal from the macbook pro, works fine, sounds really good.

problem is i cannot connect the other end of the toslink to the mpc.
the rca digital fits but i cannot connect the other end to the s1100.

is there a cable rca digital to toslink, and should i try that?
from what i found, there is an adapter box that converts toslink to rca digi but i was hoping for a less clunky solution.

any suggestions are really welcome.

thanks plichard.
it seems i do need a converter. figured i didnt, because the signal is digital on both ends but one is electrical and the other optical.

i am trying out a setup right now where my audio interface/mbp acts as a converter.

it worked apart from the fact that i could not get the mpc1000 to send digital audio.
or atleast ableton couldn´t hear it. sending analog from mpc1000 worked however, but that defeated the purpose.

so i quit digital and i am now going analog from mpc to s1100 to asr10. i have A/B´d the sound yesterday, straight out of the mpc vs the sampler chain, and the sound is really better. using the asr compressor on the s1100 gave me exactly the vibe i am after. it seems to get rid of any harshness in a very musical way. very happy with this.

i wonder if there would be any huge difference if i sampled into the 1100 (no repitch) as opposed to straight running the signal thru.

needs some experimenting.
