I've seen a couple videos of guys using the MPC 1000/2500 to trigger samples inside of FPC in FL Studio.

What's the point of that? Wouldn't it be cheaper to just use an MPD?

The only thing I've been able to think of is maybe they could be getting access to PITCHED 16-levels? idk

The MPD's have full level and velocity 16 levels, though and a dedicated USB port for connection. FPC has cut groups.

Seems like they are 'wasting' $400-500, to me or I'm missing something.

What's your opinion?

@AmpleSoul I believe it's a matter of them already owning MPC's in the past and utilizing them to try new software. I do not think it is likely that someone would buy a stand alone MPC just to use it as a controller.

I don't understand it either.... people own some mpc that is a decade or two old and they think it needs to be synchronized with the computer.

I think they are using the mpc for the look... the youtube video... the hip hop cred... even though the computer is more powerful, easier to use.. with more sample time and specs.

well to be fair, due to a law suit from the cereal company... they aren't called fruity loops anymore... and further more, it should trigger a full stop except it has some of the best sample chopping/manipulating/playing tools out there... many different types for different purposes (excluding the FPC)

the way you build beats or songs in fl studio (historically) is actually pretty much the same as on an mpc... making multiple sequences and chaining them together. That used to be very nice back when your alternatives were things like cubase and other linear daws. Another big player back in the day was reason... except it was a closed thing with no audio tracks (which they eventually added) and making/editing automation clips used to really suck.

today we have maschine and these beat making daws which are great... each daw has it's pros and cons or it's specialties.. it's a tool. If the name is the thing you are concerned with instead of the capabilities then maybe it isn't for you either way.

Is 16-level PITCH able to be recorded as MIDI Data in FL Studio piano roll? I see stuff like MPD's and MPK's that have Full Level and 16-levels, but only with velocity. I'd like to test it if I had a way to connect the MPC midi to the PC...

It does makes sense though if they travel and take their MPC's with them often, they may just decide to use it a controller while at home. never thought of that myself, cause I never travel with my stuff.

And about FL... everything ends up as a .wav or .mp3 anyways. throw in solid VSTS, good drums and any DAW can be great. you sample off vinyl? it'll end up as digital .wav/mp3 eventually...FL has so many routing possibilities, great browser to preview sounds quick and drop them in the project.

i dont believe 16 levels tune would be a thing.. is it possible for a midi controller to implement it? yes... but on an mpc, the tune function is a value in the mpc's internal program that is being accessed through 16 levels. It re-assigns what the internal pads are controlling. However with velocity it would be outputting a midi note number and it's velocity value. So i am thinking the 16 levels tune function is an internal only fuction.. not something that can be applied to external sounds via midi.
