Hi there. I'm very new to any kind of production - just set up my MPC 1000 a few days ago. I just got Ableton Live 9.7 installed on my MacBook Pro. So now I wanna sync up the MPC to use as a midi controller for Ableton.
*also* I have Traktor Scratch pro installed, and have the Native Instruments Audio 8 DJ box as my audio interface. It has MIDI in and out on it, so I have a MIDI out - "A" - from the MPC to the MIDI in on the Audio 8 box, and a MIDI out from the Audio 8 box to the the MIDI IN Port "1" on my MPC
SO not only do I want to be able to use the MPC as a midi controller for Ableton - but would also like to be able to use the MPC as a midi controller with Traktor Scratch Pro as well - to trigger samples or whateve.
So I tried following the instructions on this thread to no avail ->https://www.noterepeat.com/products/akai-professional/mpc-series/257-mpc-series-syncing-your-mpc-with-ableton-live
and on here -> https://help.ableton.com/hc/en-us/articles/209071149-Synchronizing-Live-via-MIDI
but I can't seem to get it going, so i thought I'd ask you experts on here
I did notice as per the Ableton instructions page, when I go into Ableton preferences -> "Link Midi" tab, when I try to set the "Controller Surface" it just says "none", and there is no Akai or MPC option anywhere in that huge list or different controller types that drops down when you click it. Also at the MIDI ports section at the bottom it simply reads: AUDIO 8 DJ (MIDI Input Port 0" and AUDIO 8 DJ (MIDI Output Port 0) - So it's like it isn't even recognizing the MPC at all.
Can anyone shed some light on what I'm doing wrong? I've taken a short video of the Ableton screen and the MPC screen and the connectors at the back so you can have an idea. ->
thanks! = )
