Is that connection inside the MPC1000? If so then that is not a SCSI connection.

There is indeed a 50 pin connector inside the mpc 1000, near the memory slot, that looks like an 50 pin scsi connector.

I'm guessing it is for internal SCSI hard drives. Most of us have internal IDE drives. Anyone ever use this port? It'd be cool if someone did an SCSI2SD kit. Not that there aren't easier methods of storage in the mpc1000...

The service manual doesn't reference SCSI at all.
It's 50 pin test port J110 on the CPU board for a PC Flash ROM used for testing the MPC1K with a special Test OS.
