MPC1000 RAM and CF card Recommendations

DONT GET THIS RAM!
(not sure what brand it is, came with the mp i got off ebay, works usually but will make ur mp reset and flash the *128 mb installed* screen over and over) (side note: usually works for a few hours before ***]ckin up, also can *** up right away)

also if anyone knows what this ram is called let me know so i can sell it lol

Looking for a kind soul to lend some advice. I've combed through the thread but just wanted confirmation on my specific build. I had a CF card fail on my years ago and too afraid to upgrade since.

I have a MPC 2500, Large Screen, JJOS 128xl

Which CF, SD, adapters work for this setup?

Micro SD XC type 1 UDMA extreme CF Adapter available ebay or aliexpress made in Taiwan about $10-$15 each. Then stick micro SD card in there. Not all micro SD cards work. I have good luck with samsung 128gb or sandisk 128gb micro sd cards

I've personally never had any luck with the Extreme CF adapters, I went through around 4 in the space of a 12 month period (must of been a run of bad luck getting the dodge batch as the build quality is really flimsy of the one's I received on ebay. The ones I received would eventually have the same failure of either the left or right side of the top cover coming loose and won't clip back into position).

I went for iFlash adapter from iFlash.xyz, as mentioned by midi blaster 6000. Definitely well worth the extra few bucks spent, really solid build quality, no issues or quibbles. Also allowed me to ditch mircosd cards for SDHC UHS-I cards.

I can confirm the following SanDisk Ultra SDHC UHS-I Class 10 80MB/s memory card works flawlessly in my Akai MPC 1000 with JJOS2XL (I've used 16GB, 32GB, 64GB or 128GB)

Works great and you can remove the micro sd card from the front. I put some folder over tape on the micro sd card so it has a bit of a tab I can grab onto, and so far it's been working just fine.

I just picked up the ChenYang SD SDHC SDXC to CF Type I Compact Flash Memory Card Adapter Reader off Amazon here and it worked. (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08JYXNW22)

I also accidentally bought a Type 2 Compact Flash card but that one ironically fit my MPC and worked fine too. Even though most people say Type 1 only works. (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001DKO7R8)

The only trouble I ran into initially was formatting the MicroSD on my Mac.
It specifically had to be MS-DOS (FAT) in Disk Utility before I could then reformat it again in the MP, otherwise the MP just didn't recognize or see it.

I saw your MPC 500 video on youtube, where you have a 128GB micro SD in a CF card. I'm struggling to get a 16GB CF card formatted correctly in mine. When I put it in, the MPC freezes (can't move the cursor at all).

I was thinking that 16GB was too much but then I saw you had a 128GB. I've tried using DiskPart on windows to reduce the volume size to 2GB which lets me format in FAT16, but that hasn't helped.

Do you happen to know what might be my issue here?

Replied to you on YouTube comments today, but it's a horrible platform for communication so not sure if you got it. Been a bit behind in comment replies due to surgery... but feeling better and been able to respond.

Honestly... my guess is either your CF card is garbage, or you might have a bent CF card slot pin. Hoping it's just a bad CF card... but without more information it's tough to tell. You should be able to use 120GB drives no problem, and I've hit up to 512GB before... so you can get pretty large.

The pins all look ok and intact. The OG card works fine in the MPC, and the new 16GB card works ok in a reader on my PC. I've formatted it a bunch of times, in different ways. I even used Diskpart to reduce the volume to 2GB so I could format it FAT16, but it's aways the same result; put that CF card in and the MPC appear to freezes.

At least I know now that a bigger SD card can work, so I'll keep chipping away at this issue. Either I'll pickup a cheap old CF card, or get a caddy to take one of the many micro SD cards I've got lying around.
