Recording From 1k to 12-Track mixer

What im doing is takeing each track from the MPC and recording it to another track on my Korg D1200mk2.

I have to press play on the MPC, wait for the 4 count, then press record on the Korg.

The problem is that sometimes i dont press record at the exact same time on the Korg.

This makes the song off beat, and i have to keep going back to fix each track.

It gets tedious after u record the same track a few times.


Is there any way that i can sync the Korg with the MPC so it records each track at exactly the same time? Maybe through MIDI or something?

I assume the Korg unit you have has a tempo map ability right? (hence the 4 count, timing etc...)

I went through this same dilema with Logic.

You could use MIDI time code and have the Korg be the slave... I find this to be kind of cumbersome and at times uninspiring.

or..

just keep practicing hitting the play button on time.

I find this to be the best way (especially since I no longer sequence entire songs in the MPC, I only program loops) This, in the long run, will also save you time and leave more opportunity to be creative. Tap your foot, bob your head, count aloud... practice practice practice

yea i kno u can just do it manually but its really a pain in the ass....

There has to be an easier and quicker way to record the track from the MPC to the Mixer.

how would i use the MIDI Time code and what is it?

I dont see anything like that in the MIDI/SYNC part of the MPC.

Fam, you're playing yourself if you don't set up MIDI. It's always very clear in Akai and Korg manuals. All you have to do is follow the instructions and you'll never have to try to line up tracks again. Don't waste time losing good takes when it only takes five mins to set up.

yea thats why im tryin to figure out how to hook up the midi from my mixer to the mpc.

the book really isnt that clear on how i use the midi to control which track im recording on the mixer.

MPC1000 does not have Midi Time Code, only Midi Clock.
You must set up the Korg as the master.
Make sure it is generating Midi Clock.
The 1K is the slave. make sure it is set up in the sync window to recieve midi clock.
Press Play on the Korg and the MPC1K should start.
I do it with my Korg D16, no problem.
