Has anyone noticed anything odd about sounds resampled inside the MPC and then transferred to a PC ?

I wrote a sequence last night and resampled it to one WAV file. When I played back this file on my computer, it sounded tinny and really low in volume (compared with how it sounded on the MPC).

At first I thought this may be because the setting called something like 'Internal Gain' or Internal Headroom' was set to -12db.

So I set it to +0 db and tried again.

The resulting WAV was definitely louder, but still sounded a bit cr@p.

Maybe the headphones I was listening to the MPC on make everything sound magical, but I doubt it (I've been using them for a while and they are pretty neutral).

(The computer - an iMac - was playing back through Harmon Kardon Soundsticks + woofer, which I'm used to listening on).

I'll do a controlled A/B comparison tonight, but just wondered if anyone had noticed anything similar (?)

Anyways - later.

yes! this same thing happened to me last night!

i resampled and the resulting file was really thin and quiet.

at first i thought maybe it was becuase it was running thru the master fx twice (once from the "main outs" setting i used while resamping, and the second time from when i assigned the new sample to a pad)

so i turned off the master fx and it still sounded all crappy.

anyone know what could be wrong here?

MODE>OTHER then turn global volume to 0db instead of -6.
then when resampling, turn on Full Level.

As a caveat:

When playing back the sound on the record screen which asks if you want to keep it, the resampled sound will seem louder than the actual recording. This is normal.

Once you assign the resampled sound to a pad, it will play at the same volume as the originally resampled material plus any effects, etc. This is due to the fact that the 1k automatically assigns all samples to playback at 70% of their full volume, as is visible on any pad's main Program page. That'd be smart thinking on their part, allowing for more headroom and better S:N overall.
