cubase recording problem (timing)

I've got this annoying problem when recording a whole song into cubase sx 3 for further editing and mixing.
When i record for example a 3 minute song from the mpc1000 into cubase i notice a lag in the mpc1000 sequencer , the first 32 bars it's not mutch of a problem but the delay gets bigger the longer the song plays.
I tested this with a straight kick made on the mpc and one in cubase , and the longer the song plays the bigger the gap between the two kick loops.
This really sucks cause i can't use the cut and paste and stuff with the grid lock cause the kicks don't fall on the grid, this makes it hard to add one shots and stuff within cubase too.

wow....thats a problem with Cubase. i have snyc loads of suff to my mpc and it works fine, this might be a latancey issue with you midi out etc, try chanigng the latancey
also bare in mind you might get a better response from a Cubase Forum, or in MPC Studio Environments forum

Nah Penfold , i'm not using midi on this , i make my entire song on the mpc and then record the audio to cubase (mpc1000 is the sequencer , cubase just records) , No slave , just the mpc as master.
And i'll take your advice and post it on the cubase forum too.

if i'm not mistaking, what pen is saying, in order for you to sync anything to anything, you need to do it with midi cables. and if your computer has a latency issue with the asio drivers, it will not syn right. and also, cubase can not be a slave to the mpc1000 because of the time code that the mpc1k puts out "midi clock"

MIDI Clock is a tempo based type of synchronization signal, that is it is
related to the number of “beats per minute”. MIDI Clock signals are
suitable for synchronizing two devices that agree on tempo, such as
for example Cubase SX/SL and a drum machine.
MIDI Clock is not suitable as a master sync source for an application
like Cubase SX/SL. Therefore Cubase SX/SL will transmit MIDI Clock
signals to other devices, but it will not receive MIDI Clock.

so for cubase, it has to be the master to the mpc's slave. cubase will record as master from the mpc.

Yeah , i slaved my mpc to cubase with midi clock and it works fine now , seems like cubase has faster bpm than the mpc1000 or something, strange.
Thnx for the help Penfold and sparq , i'm not really keen on syncing computer stuff to hardware cause of latency problems but this works out fine.

Honestly, using midi sync is really no that difficult, it is probably all you need to do. You seem dead set against it, but I think it will give you the result you are looking for.

Yeah foflex , i used to have real crappy latency on my pc so i kinda steered away from it .
But this seems to work and it definetly fixed my prob.

also everyone needs to understand (for those who don't already know) that you can do alot more with midi than just hooking up a keyboard to the mpc or your computer.
