i have just bought a mpc 1000 i know it has 2 midi ins and 2 outs, but how would i go about connecting up to 4 sound modules and a keyboard to the mpc 1000.

simple, just think of it like this,
"what goes in must come out" continue the midi signal, out then in, out then in and so on...hint= thru

I like that Pen. Very good way of puttin it. Check out the Akai pro website I believe they have it If you need to view it for anything else.
