In my opinion the mpc is still more of a musical instrument.

I dont understand why software developers never include "sampling record" ability to the software. forget using another piece of software to do this THE MPC does it all! (just my opinion)

Looks interesting but ...

... hardware is the way it is because there are more limitations than in the virtual world of software. MPCs work so well because of their limitations not despite them. Always strikes me as a little backward trying to emulate hardware sequencers in software.

But yeah worth further investigation.

Roland's SP606 is quite interesting in this respect. A marriage of groovebox hardware with pattern based software. Time will tell if it's a goer or not.

My suscpicions would be 'not'.
