my 1K finds a new reason to freak out on me. now, when i hit a pad that is assigned to MIDI, the damn sample from the program triggers too. is this an OS glich or something? Any suggestions? it aint no RTFM thing either. I know my manual front to back. my $hit keeps gliching. had some kind of wierd error page the other day and this huge series of numbers, like multiple rows came at me and frose my $hit in the middle of a beat again. and my 3/4 outputs dont work. I'm about to sell this thing for real.

That doesn't sound like something the manual can clarify and/or fix.

Maybe download the OS again and reload.
Take out, reseat the RAM.
Maybe a file is corrupt?

Definitely sounds like there are some problems, but for the sample triggering issue - make sure that the Program for the track you're using is set to "Off."

I know my manual, chief. thanks for your help.

y'all are some testy mufuggas on here.

local is off on the keyboard. program is off on the 1k. Whenever I hit the pad or the corresponding key on the keyboard, the sample and the midi info play back.

real thanks to everyone else with real input. smart asses need not apply.

If you put it out in the open dog you are game for whatever response you get. You may or may not like it though. I'm sure you know this already though man. I'm just saying ya know.

this is just how the mpc1000 works.

samples are assigned to programs, which are assigned to tracks. and tracks can be assigned a midi channel independantely of the program being used on the track. (but you know all that already)

so you just need to use a program with no samples for all your midi tracks.

about your other problems what Lampdog suggested seems the reasonnable thing to do. if still not working after that, i guess my first post makes sense.

i thought that when you are using the MPC as a control surface for other midi devices, you just turn the program off all together. so i did this. problem is, the samples trigger anyway. im gonna get the new OS and reformat some isht and see if that helps.

of course, man. of course. its all good, im a smart ass too. I just hate it when people assume you are a retard because they think you haven't read the manual and they think they're hard because they have more experience with their MP.

$hit, I just got my jawn like 3 months ago and its the easiest piece of gear i own, but also the most problematic. I'm sure a lot of people get up on here like "how do i record stuff" or whatever and they need some serious help that y'all dont have the patience for, but give a brother a break, the manual doesnt tell you how to fix your fuc ked up gear.

theres never a reason to hate on someone or deprive them of knowledge just because you already know it. that biz is straight up ignorance.
