The footswitch options on MPC1000 only allows for PLAY/STOP on a single footswitch. This means if you're using it live and want to stop a sequence and take it back to the start you need to use your hands and check the locate button (not good for a keyboard player). Using the footswitch to restart would continue the sequence from where stopped and 100% of the time you would loose your timing.
With earlier drum machines this was standard. But AKAI added PLAY START in addition to PLAY and forgot the whole concept of using the machine not just as a sampler in a studio but a rhythm house on a live set.
So to achieve this on a live stage u need 2 FOOTSWITCHES (step back for mankind). You will have to program the MPC for Footswitch 1 to PLAY START and Footswitch 2 to STOP.
A simple solution would be to modify the software to make 1 footswitch perform this function.
Anyone using MPC1000 Live and experiencing this setback? Probably a combined voice would convince AKAI to perform a major software upgrade.
