I have been using the MPC 1000 and My Fantom XR Module to make beats for about 3 months now. I was about to buy a digital recorder, but everone was like, naw get a computer and get Sonar or Logic. So I buy the computer. My problem is this...I used to be able to completely make the beat on my mpc with the module and record it to my cd recorder. Now with Sonar, you have to really make the beat with the computer sequencer. It is more stressful. There are so many midi channels and the mpc only has so many availiable channels. I know that what I am saying is confusing. But my point is Do other users prefer the hard disk digital recorders or Computer recording software?

Use a computer and Cubase or some similar prog. A hard disk digital recorder is pretty much a stripped down computer. If you got a regular computer uc ould do all the stuff a digital recorder could do and most likely more.

Definately a computer...alot more options and alot more memory...plus the 1000 works great with a computer (Better with a computer with a CF card reader)

I see that no one is actuallu taking time to read what your really on about.

Since you now have the Computer, basically dont bother with sequencing in thr PC cause thats LONG. Just use it as a Hard disk recorder, you will either have to record in stereo each track at a time or buy a soundcard that will enable you to track each sound MPC and Fantom to the PC. then u can continue to mix it down from there.

I do this my self with Cubase.

I do this same thing with Vegas. Computer as a hard disk recorder.
