mpc cover

Can anyone help.

for live work I want to create some sort of cover to go around the pads so I can write which pad corresponds to which sound, has anyone done this or do akai provide anything with this in mind?

just get a piece of shirt board and cut out holes with a scalpel Or a bit of acetate so you can wipe it clean. I dont think akai offer anything.

I think they call it that cos its the stuff you get in shirts but its just thin but firm card, good for making stencils etc. Cornflake packet would do

jus make a template on your pc, and print it out. So you can jus write on that. Plus you would always have the file on your pc. Jus an idea

this is not attractive but use masking tape. you can write on it and it will not affect the way you hit the pads. you can put the tape right on the pads and peel it off when you're done.

The more you use it the more you'll remember where you put which sample. If you're going to be playing live I'd suggest practicing lots and lots. I always put similar samples on the same pad in every program, ie kicks on pads 1234, snares on 5678 etc. If I've got an effect sample I usually put it on pad 16.
