Goal: I'm trying to get the MPC1000 to respond to MIDI program changes,
issued from a keyboard controller. Such that with a button press from the controller, a new program loads, with new samples mapped to pads.

According to the manual, this is something that should be able to be done.
In fact, I have it working. However, I have to make what seems to be an
irrelevant setting to make it work, an annoying one, in fact, because it means I have to touch the MPC1000 after powerup to make this setting, it
doesn't seem to be the default behavior as the manual leads one to believe.

The detail: with all MIDI/Sync settings and all other settings, cablings, etc. seemingly appropriately set, program changes are not 'heard'. However, if I go to the lower right corner of the main Program page, and change the MIDI setting from 'OFF' to '1A' -- doesn't have to *stay* at 1A, it can be set back to 'OFF' -- then my MIDI program change messages are 'heard' and executed.

Now although it is a MIDI setting, I say that it is irrelevant because I believe the setting is related to *sending* MIDI data from the MPC1000, not *receiving* it. And the fact that it just needs to be touched, and not set, leads me to think it's a bug. What do the experts on the forum think?

And if it's a bug, what's the advice of the forum on the best way to communicate it back to Akaipro so that... it gets addressed in the OS update?

Aha, OK, I see. 86 reads and no replies.

Must be a bug, or else no one else is changing pad assignments
remotely/automatically so no one has run into this.

How about the second part of my question-- how best to submit
a bug report like this to Akaipro?

"how best to submit

Not sure if it would matter. I am still waiting for them to fix the 20+ bugs in the MPC2000XL. Development is in Japan and there has been a long standing language barrier between English speaking people reporting bugs and Japanese developers.
