Hi everyone,

I want one of those vestax handytrax turntable for sampling my vinyl because I don't wanna spend the money for technics. I was wondering if the sample quality would be good enough? I'm not trying to do super pro stuff here either. Oh and would I need a pre amp for that turntable?

Thanks a million

You would not need a preamp when using a portable turntable because they have preamps built in to them. About the quality I am not sure.

cool.

so i could just hook it straight up into the mpc and sample?

Yeah. Does it have a line output. Don't record in phono!

I've got the vestax portable and I use it for sampling all the time. The sample quality is real nice...I was actually surprised when I recorded for the first time. It's great for when I wanna make beats at my girls. I take the MP, the handytrax, and some old vinyl...and I create some ish out of my normal element. Try it sometime, it feels good. Different things happen in different places.

Yeah this is true. I did the same thing at my girls one day. I never thought of buying a handy trax or that portable numark joint as a portable turntable for beatmaking. I just thought of it as something to take when digging.

That's a really good idea though. I may look into that if I go on any big trips or something. What would be really cool is getting the 1k batter powered too. I know there is options out there for a battery supply from radioshack or something though. ANyone have any suggestions on a good battery pack? I don't know much about those, and it would be a good thing to have for sure.

The 1K draws 19 watts, any battery you got for it would either be bigger than it or go flat in 10 minutes. But maybe you could carry a long extension cord and plug it in when nobody was looking...

Serious?? Damn. I may look into the battery packs to see what I can find anyways. You gotta admit it would be real dope to have the joint running on batteries.

ahh dude what about the stuff that powerd the QFO. the dj qbert turntable fusion mixer thing. that shit must draw a lot of power but they said the battery lasts for like 5 hours and stuff. but only thing is that the company who made the battery stuff went under.

when would you need a battery pack for the 1k?
