If you just think it's too clean sounding run it really hot through a stereo valve compressor or even some distortion. Buying another MPC won't make you make better beats.

Damn man you make us cats from the south sound dumb as He||. Theres nothing cool about "ebonics typing". If you cant make something on the 1000 sound like its hip-hop then the 3000 sure wont help you any. Have you ever thought that this hole music thing might not be you?

if you can't make the 1k sound like hip-hop, buying another mpc will be a waste of $

there's loads of dirty nasty 12-bit sounds in hip-hop ... there's loads of really clean, sparkly, sharp, detailed stuff too

i'm not saying i can get it like the famous producers (or i'd be one i guess) but "that hip-hop sound" is very much about the drums for sure but lo-fi, distorted, 12-bit is only one of many techniques out there

i'm listening to n.e.r.d at the mo and there's some crunch and snap in there for sure but there's some real shiny, crisp, high resolution stuff going on in there too, there is to my ears anyway

i think the mpc1k has a really sharp ballsy sound, lots of "punch" and "thud"

Before you load your samples in to your 1k, always tweak them first. Load them in Cubase or what ever you got, and add effects to them. Compressor, Chorus, Reverb, Puncher, Grunger and so on. It will hit so much harder!! Oh, and if you need to time stretch, do it in Cubase before you load it into your 1k. But if you do go buy another MPC I would buy a 1k. There the dopest, I promise.
