1k Syncing

Please read the full question:

I've read ALL manuals, forums and reference material. I'm trying to sync my 1k to Pro Tools.

This is what I've done:

Hooked up 1k to UM-880 MIDI patchbay (with other gear etc.)
Checked IN / OUT cabling to 1k
Triple checked IN / OUT cabling to 1k
Tried new cables
Set up AMS (mac) correctly
1k: MODE > SYNC on 1k to IN 1 OUT A (same as cables)
Pro Tools: Enabled Machine Control (set to 1k) in Setups > Peripherals
Pro Tools: Enabled MIDI Beat Clock in MIDI menu

Press Play on Pro Tools - 1k does NOT play.

Any suggestions please?

I'm not sure, but I think the mpc 1000 only syncs to midi beat clock. so the enabled machine control might not be helping things from the peripherals menu. Also under the Midi menu there's a window where you need to check off for the beat clock to get sent out to yer mpc.
The only other thing I can think is that you need to have the midi from the computer sent to your mpc with the UM880 (clicking the computer button and highlighting the mpc in to out on the UM).
