sez it works with anything but why would you need it?

If it works with compactflash then it'll work with the card from your mpc.

Using a card reader instead of the usb connection on your mpc is heaps faster (if it's usb 2.0) and is better for workflow. (ie you don't have to keep stopping to drop samples onto the card.)

Well, with this gadget you do not have to use just the compact flash,
The are so many other memory formats, just want to know what is best the CF way or maybe the SD format. I have at home some MMC they are for my yamaha CS6x and SD for my camera and have some memory over to use.

Just wondering if this works i don't have to buy new CF cards.
Can someone verify this gadget works????

i dont think it'd work personally, seeing as the card formats have different numbers of pins etc. rather than just being different shapes.

more importantly
WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU WANT TO?
2gb is HEAPS. so stfu and use it.

Hang on I read it wrong in the first place, thought it was a usb/cf adaptor. It should work fine anyway, but yeah, now I'm wondering what's the point? You don't want to be using the same card for your digital photos and samples and everything and have to keep swapping around.

and no one actually knows whether the MCP can recognise anything higher than 2 gb. so until someone finds a 4 gb card in the middle of the street its really really pointless.

as for USB drives working through it, its doubtful to say the least, it'd require drivers, and even if it did work, itd be **** slow, and difficult to browse.

"no one actually knows whether the MCP can recognise anything higher than 2 gb"

That is the million dollar question that has kept me up at night a few times.

I suspect the MPC1000 will handle this similar to the MPC2000 os v1.2. FAT for small drives, and partitions for larger drives. The partitioning scheme may not be windows compatible (the XL's is not).

Compatibility is not essential or needed, since a very large drive should only be used for storage and not for transfers. No need to put 4-10 Gig worth of data at risk by putting it in a windows machine. Best to keep a <2Gig card just for transfers.

This appears to be a more compact version of what you are talking about. There are a number of different companies making a similar product. I think they would work.

It would be useful for myself since I seem to have almost every possible card you can get for various equipment - I would definitely prefer to stick to the sd cards.

AND why exactly is the biggest card called a COMPACT flash ??

Yah

Thankx Methadox for the backup, LOL
Samuraisam why so angry with this question, its not useless I could use something like that. Like i have a few 256 sd card lying around that is to small for my mp3 player, have a 1 gig now in the mp3 player.

So why buy a new CF card 256mb?
If you can use your old memory's. Fist deleted the mp3 on it ofcouse,,, duh!!!
