just thought about it.

if they release the HD-conversion pack and drop a new OS - would it technically be possible to interconnect the mpc with your pc (via USB cable) and have the convinience to "browse" files easily within the windows explorer.

Woudl that be possible to implement in an OS update.

That would be freakin' cool.

Cuz to keep the track of 40 gigs of files with that little monitor - would be a bit tedious.

Anyone know?

thx

i see your point, and thought about it.....you must take into consideration there will be users who do not include or use PC's in there setup...

however it would be nice to do that but i strongly doubt it...especially on how the mpc works...it would break down or fuk up ya files if to sources try to read from the same disk at the same time...this is why you could not share a scsi zip with a mpc and pc....but this might be all different now..

and what about not sharing?

What if they could write the OS in a way so you can choose - let's say "connect to PC with USB for file transfer".

and then choose between - cf card & HD.

and when you choose HD - then the OS should not allow the mpc to use/write on the HD - only the PC.

would that be possible?

you know - the mpc just actin' like an external HD for the PC, so that you could do all your "file management".

jm you are freakin KIIIIILLLin me. that would be incredible. i hadn't thought of it, but why the hell not? you could treat the mpc like a continuously connected usb device and just drop files onto it whenever..

if this is at all possible it would be the coolest machine possible

s**- damn-

that almost makes sense!! after all its really common to see 'usb slave hard drives' which is what that would be like..

now you got me hoping too.

That way I would probably just use the mpc1k's hard drive as my main sample collection.

all that would be nice, but it would cost AKAI more money in production costs. hence why the USB was slave to start with. it cost them more to do it the other way round.

ok penfold tell me if i got it backwards, but...

the usb was slave to start with,,

and with the thing were talking about for the hdd,
it would still be slave right?

in fact so similar to the current situation, except you see the hdd from yer computer instead of seeing the flash.

or are we talking about different things?
