Is it okay to mix in the Mpc 1000 and record the whole track in the computer or is it better to record each track in the computer one at a time. Cause that takes 4ever definetly with a 14 track song.

Yo... You're on the right track!

You know that old proverb....right?

A 1000 mile journey begins with a single step....

The best results are always made with the most effort, patience, and dilligence... don't make microwave beats. You'll be pleased with the results when you are finished.

Oh yea. invest in a flash card reader with usb 2.0.

That way when you got them 45-80 mb tracks they'll load in no time...from the mpc 1000 to the computer.

Good Luck :D

why would you record track to the computer 1 at a time. the 1000 has 6 outs you can track out at the same time. (depending on your audio interface)

am i missing something?? are you suggesting to a card reader to load that "45-80mb track" onto the mpc? if so, you can 't do that. you can not connect anything external in terms of a usb device to the mpc other than the computer. to transfer the file from the computer to the CARD, i can understand your suggestion but to get it from the card to the mpc you still have to use the reader on the mpc.

just curious. if i misunderstood you..... my bad.

probly he means take the flash card out of the MPC and put it in the flash card reader then put that in the computer, instead of connecting th MPC by USB.

Personally I like mixing on the 1k sonically, but I find the resolution on the mixing faders a little bit too coarse for really specific levels. but a couple of my favorite mixes were actually done by importing WAV files from the computer INTO the MPC. That way you can use the MPC to mix down instead of the computer, which IMO sounds a little better...probily because mycomputer kind of sucks.

Cause I have a sorry ass soundcard. What should I buy so I can record multiple tracks at the same time on my computer. It's called a Realtek and it came with my computer.

I prefere mixing on the computer, I've recorded a song with 31 tracks one time and if something doesnt sound right you can always edit in the comuter, also you have more control over each track meaning different effects.

ok, i understand now.

if you are stuck for money and you don't have a good piece of software to track into, you can go for the lexicon omega studio. it allows for 4 simutaneous input recording. and it comes with a full version of cubase le

http://www.samash.com/catalog/showitem.asp?itemid=37451

here's an excerpt of the description:

Unlike standard computer I/O boxes based on a patch bay concept, the Lexicon Omega Studio is designed and built around the same paradigm as large-format recording consoles. An 8-input, 4-Bus, 2-output USB I/O mixer with inserts, instrument input, MIDI I/O and complete metering and monitoring functions gives you the freedom to record up to 4 tracks at once and mix without the need for additional mixing hardware.

Mixing on a computer doesn't feel right, especially with a mouse. However, if your using a digital mixer I guess it's ok. I prefer using an analog board because everything is laid out for you right there. I can't even imagine myself mixing with a mouse...

conductor - i'm from a school of thought that STARTED mixing with a mouse, and it doesn't feel right without it! how weird is that....

i suggest tracking it out and mixing it on a software editing program. i use acid pro 5.0 still - not as good as cubase, but once you learn how to do it your end results can be fine.

personally i do it both ways. it's important to understand - if youre getting the exact sound you want coming right out of the mpc, you should record that! at least put it down so you can compare the straight up 2 track mix vs a multitracked mix later on.

there is NOTHING wrong with recording the mpc's stereo outputs and just using that.

sometimes it wont give you what you want and then yeah multitracking the beat is great too so you can tweak your mix.

both methods are fine. which one you use depends on what youre hearing.

i usually record both. a lot of times i find that the mpc's mix just hits a little harder. maybe it doesnt have all the nice eq's and compressed tracks that the multitracked mix has. but it just thumps harder so a lot of times i go with that. but then again, i also find that with a lot of songs i have to multitrack to eq and stuff to leave more room for vocals and all that.

and about the 6 outs....the stupid mpc doesnt spit out fx except thru the main outs. so sometimes the 6 outs aint worth sh1t

i would like to say that

without a good soundcard your beats will be much better if you just keep them inside the MPC for mixing, especially if that's the only machine you use!!!!!

Taking the time to mix a whole song down on the MPC and exporting a single WAV file by resampling may take just as long as putting it in the computer track by track, BUT the product will sound much better. Running the MPC's nicely converted, vinyl sampled product into a 'Realtek' soundcard will leave you wondering why all your carefully engineering beats sound like trash.

I would advise a soundcard with digital inputs, these are very worth it in the long run especially for tracking!!!!

bruv!! its the hardest thing in the WORLD!!! just feels so weird!!!
so i just make it sound good in the mpc from the jump..so all i got to worry about is vocals!!
