static recording from records

i have my table hooked into the in's on the mpc through my preamp and when itry to record it is shitty quality, like u cant even listen to it. static is an understatement. is it some setting on the mpc or the table (its my moms like 20 years old) i was thinkin it could be a bad table on the needle even though it looks fine to me. jsut a guess.. thanks

I dont Understand... You have a table hooked up to a mixer and when you record you get a static noise>? Is the Table grounded? It could be anything. Bad Wiring, Bad equipment, bad needle, and ETC.

Prob'ly the needle, but don't put the deck on something hollow and resonant.

yea i dunno its jsut REAL staticy and im not sure what the cause is. its probley not the wires/preamp cause i just bought those brand new. the table/neeedle is old though so im thinkin thats it
