hey, what's going on - here's a midi question for you (penfold). i have an m-audio uno and have been using it to slave reason for a long time.

however, i've begun working ahead on my mpc sometimes, rather than orchestrating on both sequences at the same time. my reason accompaniment file needs to "catch up," if you will - and it'd be real nice if i could get reason to slave the mpc.

here's my deal - i tried verbatem what the manual says. selected "sync in" 2 and plugged the out into the 2nd in of my mpc. it then asks you to hit MAIN. having done so you are supposed to see that the tempo section of the main screen has been changed to (EXT) but this has not happened.

any advice? what exactly is going on?

its not the UNO, its REASON, it does not work as a MASTER only Slave... (i think?)

that's what i found out. MAN that kills!!! i bet in the next version it will master as well, as it SHOULD... goddamn, it'd be ultimate if it did...meanwhile it's just subultimate.

damn! thanks anyway penfold...

well being that the type of sequencer it is, with its own modules there be no point in having it be a master... but oh well.....never mind...

there would be in my setup. i use both reason's sequencer and the mpc's sequencer simultaniously. dual sequencer production is often not recommended but it works really well for me.

i like being able to move around in song mode on the mpc and play the reason accompaniment file at the same time. that's best when i'm working on the mpc. however, when i am working primarily on reason, supplementing the mpc, i'd like to be able to move around in reason and have the mpc follow suite.....

see what i'm going for? no big deal, just a convenience issual.

can't wait to get the sp404 and have a tertiary sequencer as well as a rack of hardware effects!!! and to think, less than a year ago i was producing alll on acid 4.0...i've learned a lot.

i think that some people workaround this by using reason in rewire in cubase. which can be master (only?) i believe. they also say getting a slightly better sound this way...
just an idea, i do not use it myself...

it's the damndest thing - my daw installs cubase fine, but there must be some confliction with one of my 200+ programs because it won't run - ie just plain won't load the program. no message or anything - a double click yields nothing.

i've had bad luck with cubase, which has caused me to master and mix on acid 5.0...a bad substitute but i know it inside and out.

LIVE 4 or 5 would be a better option to mix ya stuff in of cubase is giving you problems...I myself would have been a LIVE user, but i was having MIDI sync problems, so I had to go back SX 2...now i getting so used to cubase i cant see my self moving just as yet....kinda like....STICK 2 WoT Works remedy!

i have live 5 and have read the manual 3 times but have also been on a productivity streak lately so i don't wanna take the time to cross over.

i STILL haven't really ventured into the world of VSTs outside reason, which makes me a lazy ass ****
