I just got both of those programs and they seem to be really similar, Im not sure which would be the best/easiest to use for recording audio/midi.

Can anyone tell me in detail how to sync to any of the programs?

I havent tried syncing to any of them, but if you do a search, you might find some info posted by Penfold and some other members.

i have used both, in my opinion cubase is much better...interface is easier and it works well with my soundcard, where as sonar dont work with my soundcard. and yes search the forum the sync guide is around somewhere.

In Sonar you just have to go to Midi Sync out and it should be checked.
On the MPC go to the midi in screen and it should say recieve MMC and click yes. CLick the start on the Sonar and you should send the info to the mpc

I can't remember the specific spot for this in cubase, but it's somewhere in Devices>Device Setup. Same place where you set up midi devices, VST connections, ASIO settings, etc.

in cubase, go to transport > sync setup > bottom right where it says "send midi clock" then check off your midi interface.

on the 1k, go to mode + pad 9 (midi/sync) then go to the sync tab (f2) and make sure the options are set to where you have your midi in/out cables.

go back to cubase and on the transport bar (to the right of the record button) you will see 3 sections on top of each other. click, tempo and sync. in the tempo section, you will see track (default) click on it until you see fixed. this will pick up the tempo of the mpc.

connect your outs from your mp and connect it to your inputs on your audio interface, create audio mono tracks in cubase arm them and press record in cubase. you will notice the mpc start to play at the same time cubase starts to record. (although you don't have to press record, you can just press play in cubase and both will start to play)

hope this helps.
