Hey guys

I want a MPC with a GOOD sound, enought outs and memory for a complete drum set a HD to store my samples and no lag.
And oh resonably portable...I don't know which one to take 1000? 2500? 3000?

I don't give a rat's about time stretch and other shyt.

what do you recommend? MPC1000-MPC2500 other ?

Thanks a lot any advice are welcome!

if portability is your number one wish. then go for a mpc 1000. it never froze on me yet. hmm harddrives should be comming soon. sound is clear. plenty ways of making it dirty. 4 assignable outs. 2 stereo outs. a digital out. midid outs. 16mbs stock memory.more then enough for a stereo drum set.expandable to 128 for like 60 bucks. sounds like everything your looking for.

Thanks man for your answer

yes i'm leaning towards the 1000 i have to admit, but not shure about storage though.
Is the HD option defenetly comming? i have 40 GB of sounds and flash memory is just not enough!
Also everybody seems to talk about a new OS update is it due soon, is it defenetly comming as well?

thanks again dude!

Two things to consider

1. Budget
2. Drum machine don't make beats.

hope that makes your shopping easier

so goddamn true. they don't. and they don't have souls, either. that's because there's no such thing as a soul.

portability, my friend, is the 1000's most blessed selling point. i freakin' LOVE the mpc1000 for all the reasons you've listed as required.

hd optiion is definitely coming, no question.

space--the mpc1000 has the most sample time of any sampler in its class. 128 megabytes of ram is a LOT. consider - sp1200 has 10 seconds. gnarliest sound out there, and my favorite producer use(d) one, but the days of limitation are over.

mpc1000 has a damn good sound, too - esp when recording out with spdif.

if you don't care about timestretch and zoning and the like, do NOT waste money on the 2500, that overglorified mpc1000. esp if you are at all adept at sample editing via computer as a daw (undeniably the way of the future as software editors/plugins/sequencers/modules get better and better), GET THE MPC1000.

not that the machine doesn't have its limitations, but remember- THERE ARE ALWAYS METHODS OF GETTING AROUND THESE.

yeah man.you know what i think that the drives that go into the mpc2500 would be able to fit in the 1000. the reason that im bringing this up is because on the japan site they have tested a few harddrives and their the sames ones that can go into a 2500. the biggest one is 80 gigs. so their should be plenty of room for your sounds . from what sparq said the harddrive adapter and the os to support that harddrive are definately comming. and it may even be within the next two weeks.

man, the new os could be anything or it could be nothing - NOBODY KNOWS. sparq knows the most, and he doesn't know much - only that some akai shondo said that "you won't be disappointed."

we know that it won't have anything that the mpc2500 does NOT have. therefor, i think we can be pretty sure that it won't have anything that lets the qlink sliders be used in realtime on long samples.

it will allow for full harddrive use. that much is clear.

it may have timestretching, but that's dubious. it may have zoning, but that's equally dubious.

i'm kind of betting that it's only gonna have hard drive support and that's it. nevertheless, that'll be cool.

Can someone tell me if we can actually audition samples from the memory card (or the hard drive when it's there)?

thanks, i wasn't able to find something on that, so maybe it's a good sign!

Ema i found a classified in a paper, got lucky i guess!

yes you can audition samples, though its not your convential windows way, the mpc loads it into memory but askes you three questions before you can confirm, DISCARD ASSIGN and PLAY (oh and KEEP). Play is where you audition the sample, if u want it, can keep it without assigning it to a pad or assign it at that moment. if u dont want u just discard and its removed from main memory. (Ram)
