if zoning and timestretching on the new os is all true and going to happen in months (pos weeks) wat are the benefits of the 2000xl over the 1000. looking at basic specs, surely a maxed out 1000 with 128 ram would be a big advantage over an xl with 32megsl. so if timestretching and zoning were added in the near future to the 1000 that wat r the main benefits paying the xtra bucks for an xl? also, ive heard that the time stretch feature is a bit shite on the 2000xl (i mean im coming from software, so i know its not gonna be as simple or quick), so in theory could a new timestretch feature on the 1000 be improved in comparison the xl's current timestretch. not all that important as im quite happy to learn new techniques with an mpc, but zoning would be nice for some multiple choppage.

there is no point conparing the 2000xl to the 1000, the 2000xl has already been superceeded and replaced by the 2500. I cant see the point your making...

well 2500 is a lot more expensive, out of my price range. if i could afford the 2500 i wouldnt be asking any questions, i would just buy as soon as i could. as it is im on a budget, where the mpc 1000 fits fine to what i can afford, and the xl is stretching my budget to its limit as the xl is a bit more expensive, but there seems to be loads of quite cheap 2000xl MCD's on ebay. so point im making is what would be better value for money, if the mpc 1000 got the xtra features of the os update that ppl r say r likely to happen

technology wise the 1k would be the one to go for just looking at the spec sheet and convenience of certain features. If you are wondering which one will actually be a better INSRUMENT for you.....if at all possible try and test em out, cause they have different feels, and that's all personal preference.

I understanding completely what you are saying too. The 2xl is not irrelevant! same way the sp1200, asr 10, mpc 60, mpc 3000 are not irrelevant. They can still be bought and used. The fact that you can get a used 2xl for nearly a grand cheaper than the 2500 and the fact that the 2xl has been fully developed and the 2500 is still in guinea pig lab rat stages (and will be a at least a couple years) is enough to considerate the 2xl a viable option for a very long time to come.

Try them out definitely... the screens are pretty different, although the 1k is bigger, the pixels are bigger too...

pads feel different....

outputs etc. are different, filters sound different, and 1k has more filters....

step sequence mode displays CC information on the 2kxl....this is my main qualm with the 1k....

Data wheel is also very different.

Either way you'll be cool. I say the 1k has the edge on the 2kxl stock, but fully expanded, the 8 outs 2kxl is the winner.

ah, couldnt wait, got a 1000....always rush to decisions. figured that its a bit more portable, and can hold more memory. i mean even if the os doesnt arrive then im used to lots of pc software. all my tunes and thousands of manually cut up samples are on the pc, so ive got enuf samples on my pc (years of cutting up samples of soundforge and timestretching things for the old logic on pc, and stuff cut up on ableton) would be hand to go straight to a high storage medium via usb. it would be nice to hav the xtra new features the os could potentially offer as would like to use the mpc in many different environments and the ability to timestretch inbuilt would definitely speed things up. anyway,, next step is some memory expansion and a big flash card...cheers for helping me out.

i would wait till the os actually comes out before buying the 1000! i wish had some features that the 2000 n the 4000 have that the 1000 doesnt have! sometimes it fells that the mcp 1000 i limiting what i want to do! i only bought the 1000 cuz its the only one i can afford! for the pc programs its just a pain all was having to hook up your mpc to your pc! soo just wait it out for awhile!!!

jus think about how much time it would take you to work on a MPC 60, then spend that amount of time working on the 1k, you'll be str8
