Ableton Live & MPC help

Easy all,

I have set up my MPC to control Live - but havn't managed to get the Q link sliders to control anything in Live. Does anyone know if this is possible or is it just the pads that can be allocated?

Also I'd love to get the record button on the MPC to map to things in Live - can this be done?

afaik qlinks dont send any midi data.

not sure if the rec button does send anything at all (apart form a midi START if the mpc was not playing)

ta for that - thats a shame that the q links don't send midi - they would be great for effecting sliding values in Live....oh well!

there's a program out there that strikes me as very very interesting called "midijoy."

it's a little plugin that lets you control midi data via a JOYSTICK. i haven't tried it out personally because i've got a radium49, but i was rather disappointed that the qlink sliders are mpc specific too.

midijoy is a free download. all you need is a joystick. i'm not sure if it works with usb joysticks or not but i would assume so. give it a shot! it would be cool to put a joystick up on your studio desk right next to the mpc...

Antonym - thanks alot for the info...I'm sure I've heard of people doing that before with the joystick - could be a really loose and funky way of effecting values.
