This can already be done. the way you just described it. put it in record mode and when you get to the part you want muted, press that pad and erase.


Well, this is the workaround, but it's not really the same by any means.

I often have several or many instruments on one track, so doing it this way means I have to go back and erase many different things. If you have a dense program, it starts getting really complicated real quick. At this point, I have to go into the edit screen. There's nothing wrong with this, it just becomes the difference between programming and playing. I just wish there was a way to play a song into the MPC, rather than programming one. It works, but it takes a lot longer and isn't as intuitive.

I don't use the sequence edit screen to build my sequences, I use it to tweak them after I've played them in. I just wish song mode was the same way.
