Can you trigger the entire sequence with one pad and record the results?

For example: I have a 2 bar sequence looping but i want to do quick repeats on the beginning few notes in real time for breakdowns ... Is this at all possible?

I dont think there is a way to do exactly what you are saying, but you could try a couple of other things...

you could sample the sequence, as in resampling the output of the mpc by selecting "main out" as the input in the record window. Then you could put that sample on a pad and flip the sequnce like that.

or you could copy the sequence to another sequence, then make it a shorter sequnce by changing the bars and then just sequnce it in song mode.

Yes, if you have the entire sequence on a single track, you can use the track mute button to do this, making sure all the tracks are muted but the one you are using/recording.

If u wanna do quick repeats of the first few notes.. I usually just use the play/start and stop button. Works perfectly fine for me. I do it all the time

i think you can do this in the Next Seq mode...
hold down the sudden button and tap the sequence pad you wanna trigger.

Yeah that's cool for messing around but when i'm tracking down my beats to digital performer, i'd rather have it pre-programmed. Know what i mean?

I'm just repeating the first quarter note of the entire sequence so it shouldn't be too hard to repeat those notes for a bar or two. i'll try it when i get back to the lab.

Start point modulation. I know what you mean. I've been trying to do something similar. Re-recording the sample is the closest I've been able to figure out as far as a sequencing context goes. Start/stop works ok for live though

go into nex seq mode, hold down sudden button, tap pad with your seq on it repeatedly.
done.

can u record like that on the sequencer on the mpc tho, or would u have to record the sequencing triggering on an external sequence.
