With all this talk of some internal bugs on the new mpc 1000...what do you think is a good period to wait on until the bugs get squared up? A year? 6 months? Just curious for those that have any knowledge on this, feedback is appreciated.

Thanks!

the unit itself will not change...

only the OS will.

so any bugs that you get get now...will get ironed out with future OS's.

as i said...the MPC 1000 won't be any different...like it wont come with 24c gold plated trimmings...and a solid bomb proof OS.

you may as well not hold.

why wait??? unless you cannot afford one right now.

I have the 2000xl right now, but I am getting sick of the ZIP disk, SCSI connection because I know how compatible it (MPC 1000) is with the computer now. I think I will wait until I cant take it anymore with the SCSI ZIPs, then make the move. But that 1000 is lookin good.

Thanks for the reply!

If you are concerned about the bugs, then wait 6 months and make your evaluation again at that time. Remember that AKAI still has several bugs in the MPC4000 OS two years after its release. This could go on a long time. All they have to do is screw up with the MPC1000, and you can count on Roland and the others stealing the market from them. No matter how much respect the MPC's once had it is time for AKAI to get their act together or else.

Someone ought to conduct a poll of the owners to learn how many of them are experiencing bugs. It should take into consideration the seriousness of the bugs.
