Strange Problem when Loading a Project File

I encountered a weird problem last night. I went to load up a project file that I had saved the night b4, and it was missing some sounds. I checked the program, and the program knew they were supposed to be there but marked them with a ? as it does when the sample is not loaded in memory. So, I manually loaded the missing samples and everything was back to normal. Then I figured I would re-save entire memory to another new directory just to squash the problem. So i did that, re-loaded the new project file, and the same thing happened! It loaded a few of the samples into memory, but the others didn't load again! Weird thing is... when i loaded JUST the program, it loaded all the samples correctly. After trying a bunch or resaving and renaming and all kinds of troubleshooting, the only was I finally was able to fix the problem was to seperatlely load the program and the all seq and songs file THEN save all memory to create a new project file. The only conclusion i can come to after all that is that somehow my project file was corrupted? I dunno... anyway I was wondering if anyone else ever ran into this glitch.

I think this can occur when your sample memory is full.
Maybe you had some unused samples in your project directory,
and those samples where loaded before your programs' samples.
I had once the same problem...

Ineresting to know... but i don't think that was the case since I only had about 7 total samples loaded up... in fact, I recall purging a few b4 I saved entire memory.

happens to me too, sometimes when looking thru folders in the mpc, all samples hav ?? next to their name....one of many of my probs. dont know why it does that, but it seems to fuk on many things for me. anyway their is a way to temp solve it when it does happen. if u go to the 'save' menu and select internal memory, then reselect memory card, it refreshes everything and ur samples should be fine. i think it means somethings corrupted, not too sure tho

did you set it to over-write existing files with the same name?
if you dont, say for instance you update a previous program with new sounds, it will just keep the old version.

Yeah, it was set to overwrite files.

I had this problem sometimes with long wav names. Since I keep my file names within 8 characters never had this problem anymore.

Interesting you say that cuz during my troubleshooting, i tried renaming files to keep them 8 chars and under and not use any symbols, but it didnt seem to help. I think i'll just chalk it up to a power surge while i was saving or sumthin... it hasn't happened since then... weird tho.
