the 1k has 6 outputs in total (counting the main outs), so think about that as well as other possible gear when buying a mixer. as far as the samson monitors, i never tried them, so i can't be of any help there.

I went through a lot of monitors, and tested out all kinds. Samson's are aight if you have to be budget minded. Just make sure you don't pump a lot of bass in them they can't handle it.

If you are doing anything bass heavy...stay away from M-Audio BX_A monitors. They are the one monitor that I find rattle the most, but I also find they have the most definition for all sounds. It's really personal preference man. No one will be able to tell you which monitor will be best. For instance there are tons of people here that swear by Event TR series monitors. I went and heard them and thought they were garbage. They sounded like a big blanket was over them or they were stuffed with cotton.

If were you I would spend some time listening to monitors at a sam ash or something. Take your favourite CDs with you, and ONLY listen to what you are familiar with on them. Don't be afraid to pump the speakers in the store either to give em a good test.

Look at getting some good headphones to cross reference your mix too.
