This has happened to me several times. The data on my card gets corrupted. Then when i try to load a program it freezes up, and i have to start my mpc over. It ends up with me deleting that file, and reloading it from it's original source.

I know it's the card because i took it to guitar center and loaded programs in the 2500 and the same thing happened

One thing for Mac users that can cause unpredictable bahaviour sometimes (not specifically in an MPC) is the "._name" files.

Mac OS X likes to copy along these little extra files to many FAT partitions. This includes not only CF crads but also MP3players, pen-drives cameras and even HDs. The files looks like this:

my_sample.wav (a file I copy)
._my_sample.wav (also copied, invisible on the Mac)

This extra file only contains meta data about the corresponding "real" file. It is small and pretty useless IMHO.

Since the file has the same extension is is often interpreted as a proper file by the MPC, MP3-player, camera... Trying to load the meta file can result in any number of errors (depending on the device trying to open it). It will certainly not play as a sample :)

Mac OS X has improved in later versions but still adds these files a lot of the time. There are now any number of freeware tools to remove them before unmounting the drive or card. I made one of the first ones myself a few years ago.

kinda on topic, does anyone know if a 4gb microdrive can be used? I would think now that the harddrive can now go over 2gb that the cf cards should be able to also. ya think?

Was thinking about that too, but the 2.0 manual still states: 32 MB - 2 GB
Same for the 2500 manual (who is able to acces the entire HD with OS 1.00).
